Paris VacationsEurope's epicentre of life, love, high gothic architecture and things chi-chi, Paris is often described as graceful, majestic, triumphant. Entirely apt when applied to the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Montmartre's Sacre-Coeur Basilica and Notre Dame. This is a city of and for art lovers. Once the cradle of the impressionist movement, the city's Musee d'Orsay on the Left Bank has an extensive collection of impressionist and post-impressionists including Rodin, Renoir, Gauguin and Monet. The most visited museum in the world, The Louvre houses Da Vinci's Mona Lisa along with over 400,000 objects, displays and works of art. Take a stroll along the 2km Champs d'Elysees (the tip of the fashion iceberg) described as the most beautiful avenue in the world and lined with restaurants (most notably Fouquet's), luxury specialty shops, cafes and cinemas. Visit the jazz clubs of St.-Germain and les Halles, dawdle in cafes, dine in restaurants with Michelin stars and for a spectacular tour, visit the Palace of Versailles, symbol of absolute monarchy and the Ancien Regime.
Paris is rich in breath-taking sights and veteran visitors may say "don’t try to see them all in one trip." That's the good news…you'll have to return!
